New Google Places Layout And More

You may have noticed that in the last few days there have been some changes made to the layout, design and features of Google Places.

Google Places Manchester New Layout

 The main changes are:

1) The marker pins are now grey instead of red (the pins change to red when you hover your cursor over them). The Adwords Express Ads are also grey instead of the old blue (they change to blue when moused over).

2) The marker pins and location data have been moved over to the right.

3) The map now has a more horizontal orientation.

4) As you mouse over to the right of a listing a double arrow appears and if you place your cursor on the arrows a preview of the Places listing appears (see image below). This allows a searcher to scan through all the previews and see what each business has to offer.

The preview includes a location map, images, business details, reviews (where available) and a snapshot of the business website.

This allows claimed and fully optimised listings to really shine in this new set-up and means that it is more important than ever to complete listings fully including images and videos.

Hi, my name is Mark and I’m the owner of SEO Manchester.

I started in SEO in 2009 and have gradually built up my business solely from organic traffic generated via high search engine rankings (mainly Google).

I love building highly optimised WordPress websites and optimising Google Places listings. I am also constantly building on my knowledge of the uses of all forms of social media for marketing effectiveness, particularly Google+.

When not helping clients improve their online presence I enjoy walking the dog around the hills where we live, reading, real ale and (surprise) spending more time on the web.
